I used to spend the first two hours of my day with God and the last two hours. It was awesome. I grew so much.
But then something happened. I got busy.
At first, I simply chose to wake up earlier than before, and oh how my spirit was satisfied.
But then I got tired. And busier. So I started staying up later working, and I quit getting up so early in the morning. I cut back on my time with God.
But, oh, how I miss those lengthy times in the Word! I miss meditating on his voice. I miss praying quietly to him. I miss singing and playing guitar for him. I miss drawing, painting, writing for him. I just plain miss spending quality time with my Father.
Isaiah records God’s words to the thirsty:
Hey there! All who are thirsty, come to the water!
Are you penniless?
Come anyway—buy and eat!
Come, buy your drinks, buy wine and milk.
Buy without money—everything’s free!
Why do you spend your money on junk food, your hard-earned cash on cotton candy?
(Isaiah 55:1-2, The Message)
For all you youths, for all you who have time, use it wisely. Satisfy yourself in God. Drink deep of his Spirit. Learn his Word. Study his voice. Seek him now while you can.
