Over 3000 years ago, a man named Asaph wrote poetry to describe his relationship with God. The depth of his understanding of the spiritual life never ceases to amaze me. He knew nothing of modern-day, 21st-century society, and yet Asaph’s wisdom is timeless.
The following lines of poetry have been recorded as Psalm 77:16-20 in the Bible. These lines form the basis for my blog.
The waters saw you, O God.
The waters saw you; they were in anguish.
The deeps also trembled.
The clouds poured out water.
The skies gave forth a sound.
Your arrows flashed here and there.
The sound of your thunder was in the whirlwind.
The lightnings lit up the world!
The earth trembled and shook.
Your way was in the sea
And your paths in the mighty waters,
And your footprints may not be known.
You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
My heart’s desire is to follow closely the One whose footsteps disappear into the stormy ocean waves. May I have the courage to follow him into what terrifies me and there find union with his heart.
This blog will be a collection of the stories, thoughts, prayer requests, victories, adventures, and struggles that make up my life of following Jesus wherever he leads.
